Installing NT Dial-Up Software

Click START.
Go to the Programs menu and choose Accessories.

Under the Accessories menu there should be
the Dial-Up Networking option. Click on it.

Clicking on this may bring up the following Dialog box.
(If not you may skip to Configuring Dial-up Access.)

This may require inserting the Windows NT 4.0
install CD into your CD-ROM Drive.

You will now have to add your Remote Access Service Device.
Select your modem and click OK.
(If your modem is not listed, click Install.)

Check to see that the modem is installed on the correct port.

Click continue to go to begin the modem installation.

The operating system may again ask for the NT4 Install CD.

This step may take a few minutes.

You will then have to Restart your PC.

Configuring Dial-up Access.

Click START.
Go to the Programs menu and choose Accessories.
Choose the Dial-Up Networking option.

The following screen may pop up. Enter your area code,
(This is part of configuring the modem.)

The next box begins the Dial-Up Configuration.

Click OK to start the Phonebook Wizard.
Enter "CySpace Dial-Up" into the entry box.

Click Next.

Check "I am calling the Internet"

Click Next.

Check "Use Telephony dialing properties."
Entr the Area code and dial-up Phone number
provided in your CySpace City Welcome Letter.

Click Next.

Click Finish to end the Phonebook Wizard.

Click on More and choose Edit entry and modem properties.

The following screen will come up.

Click on the Server tab and click the TCP/IP Settings button.

Make sure that Server assigned IP address is checked.

Click Specify name server addresses and enter
the DNS numbers provided by your tech rep.
(Without these numbers a connection cannot be made.)

Click OK

Go to the Security tab and click Accept any authentication...

Click OK.

Click on More and choose Create shortcut to entry.
This will put an icon for dial-up on the desktop.

Click OK.

Click Dial. This will bring up the login information screen.
Enter the Internet ID and Password as assigned to you in the letter.

Please Note:
Do not enter your name. Only assigned IDs will work.
Passwords are case sensitive, and cannot be changed.

Click on Save password, otherwise the password
will have to be entered before every dial attempt.

Click OK.

The program will attempt to dial and connect.

If successful the following screen may pop up.

Click Do not display this message again.
Click OK.

At the bottom right hand-side of your screen (on the toolbar)
you should see the dial-up icon.

As long as this symbol is displayed your computer
is maintaining a dial-up connection.

Double clicking this icon brings up the option
to break the connection by clicking Hang Up.
