All domains must be hosted by a Domain name server, usually provided by an Internet Service Provider (ISP), in order to function. The server holds the file that identifies and acknowledges the request for the name to be located. A domain name can contain 2-67 characters, including the .COM, .NET, or .ORG ending. You can use numbers, letters, and dashes in your domain but the domain cannot start or end with a dash. Domains also cannot contain spaces. Domain names are not case sensitive, so you can spell, and advertise your domain in UPPERCASE, lower case, or BoTh cAseS for your email and website address. Special characters such as the underscore "_", the exclamation point "!", and the "@" sign are not permitted. .COMmercial, used for business, personal, and general. .NETwork is basically intended for companies & organizations that offer services related to the Internet. .ORGanization domains are generally considered appropriate for non-profit and other like organizations. Often, a client will register all three plus variations to protect the "branding" of their company name. These names can all point to the same web site for easy control and access. CySpace City offers domain names starting at $28.00 each (for two years registration), and payment can be made by a major credit card. If you are registering multiple domains at one time (4 or more), we will offer a special discounted rate. Domains can be registered from 1 to 10 years. A domain name is officially a number which identifies your company on the Internet. Unfortunately, the Internet can't recognize names so domain name servers contain tables that match alphanumeric Internet addresses to numeric IP addresses such as 163.52.128.71. Your domain name also known as a URL (Uniform Resource Locator) acts as a "vanity license plate" converting your number to a name which allows the viewer to refer to you by your customized, brand name.
